Being Highly Sensitive vs. Being Consciously Sensitive

Updated: May 25

Many people identify as Highly Sensitive (HSP), which in many cases expresses itself as being overly sensitive.

At the same time, many people have become desensitized, insensitive. To the point where they even get irritated when people talk about feelings.

Though these may seem like opposites, they both carry their own struggles when it comes to doing the inner work — especially energetic work such as Kundalini Activations in group sessions, or Meditation.

But here is the deeper reality:

Being overly sensitive and being desensitized

are both sides of the same coin. 🪙

They are opposing strategies to avoid the same thing:

Our natural sensitivity.

In other words:

Both are ways of coping with the overwhelm of being human. Of all the things we sense and feel through the body. Through sensations, emotions, feelings, experiences.

When we cannot — or do not know how to — cope with certain experiences, those experiences do not simply disappear. Nor does the tension that comes with them.

When experiences are rejected, suppressed or avoided, they are stored in the subconscious mind as well as within the tissues of the physical body as tension.

This is mostly an unconscious process.

And often we do it simply so we can “go on” with life. Keep functioning. Keep our head cool.

However…

What we stow away does not disappear.

We simply fill the body and subconscious with unresolved tension waiting to be processed.

Over time, the body and inner world become a more uncomfortable place to live in.

Both coping strategies are usually developed early in life, from a place of unconsciousness. Often due to a lack of guidance in how to process difficult feelings, emotions and experiences — and a lack of understanding of our true nature.

And so, our natural sensitivity — which is actually one of our greatest superpowers — becomes our greatest saboteur.

When walking the path of inner growth and expanding consciousness, we slowly begin to understand that true growth only happens through embodiment.

By fully meeting and embodying our Self with everything  we are, and everything we experience.

And so we reconnect to the body.To the subconscious. To feeling.

As consciousness expands:

we understand more, see more, know more.

And when this process is properly integrated, we naturally become sensitive in a whole new way. We are now invited to become Consciously Sensitive

As we notice more. Feel more.

Become more aware.

It is a state of being Very Present, Here and Now

Yet, when this part comes 'online' many still fight it and often go into a next level of avoidance. Hence the many partially awakened 'experts'. As well as the many toxic ways of using sacred knowledge and high vibrational energy.

The truth is: Becoming Consciously Sensitive is essential for true growth and embodied consciousness.Though it takes dedication, adaptation and practice to hold these levels of presence

We must learn how to consciously and dynamically interact with all the information that moves through our human system — Outside in & Inside out.

So that sensitivity no longer becomes overwhelm…but Conscious Feeling.Integrating into A Feeling Consciousness.

In this way, the human body and senses become instruments of conscious ALIVENESS.It is one of the foundational aspects of Energetic Leadership.

This is the level of transformation I guide people through in my Facilitator Training and events.
